What should I do if my water heater is leaking from the bottom?

Shut off the cold-water supply and power, then schedule service. Bottom leaks often mean a failing tank, bad drain valve, or corrosion. Our licensed plumbers service tank and tankless units 24/7 in La Porte and Michigan City.

  • Close the cold inlet valve.
  • Kill power: breaker off (electric) or gas to Pilot/Off.
  • Contain water; do not drain a hot tank.
  • Book an inspection; we check for leaks, corrosion, sediment, and pressure issues.
